Life After Classes
Dear diary,
(That sounded funny!)
This is not a diary. It is more of a journal centred around my life as a final year medical student and my transition into becoming a medical doctor.
Today's issue is sponsored by laziness
To understand why I've suddenly become lazy, I'll share what has happened between the last issue and this one.
After the election break, we returned back to classes and we were greeted with the news of one more additional month to our program.
On hearing it, I was speechless.
I know how happy I was to keep my eyes on wrapping up this journey in August.
Now, I have to wait till September.
But why? Why the additional month?
Well, according to “our people”, it's as a result of the unexpected national elections break (I knew this would have consequences).
With this one month, we are expected to do Family Medicine postings before we embark on our Rural Postings in May.
Classes ended on the 31st of March and it ended in a big way.
The major highlight was the change in the dress code for that one day.
We agreed as a class to dress casually and we tagged that day “Casual Friday” to mark the end of classroom lectures before we graduate.
Here's that day in pictures:
It was quite a memorable day mixed with a feeling of nostalgia.
I was reminded of my first day in class in my first year as a medical student.
Indeed, time flies!
Now that classes are over, the next set of activities remaining for me are:
Family medicine postings
This is what we're meant to be currently doing but we haven't started.
Now I spend most of my day in my room feeling lazy.
The only productive thing I do all day is attend to my remote work and my brand.
I've tried reading but it's a challenge at the moment. Though it's not one I can't handle.
Other activities lined up for me before I graduate are:
Rural postings
Medicine and Surgery clinical postings
Project work
Final exams
Still a whole lot, but this journey will certainly come to an end one day. And this newsletter will feature that issue!
